| International Human Rights Section Program
Our Section’s main program: Saturday. January 8th from
1:30-3:15.
The Right of Indigenous Peoples to Meaningful Consent in Extractive Industry Projects
Professor Jim Anaya (Arizona), Dana Clark (International Accountability Project), Isabel Madariaga (Inter-American Commission on Human Rights) and Joji Carino (Tebtebba - Indigenous Peoples’ International Centre for Policy Research and Education) have agreed to speak. The papers will be published in a symposium by the Arizona Journal of International and Comparative Law (spring 2005 volume).
The Section is also co-sponsoring two additional programs. They are:
- “Law Beyond Borders: Jurisdiction in an Era of Globalization,” (Sections on Conflict of Laws and Law & Anthropology), scheduled for
Thursday, January 6th from 2:00-5:00 p.m., and
- “International and Comparative Approaches on American Indian and Indigenous People’s Rights: Possibilities and Pitfalls,” (Section on Indian Nations and Indigenous Peoples), on
Friday, January 7th, from 8:30-10:15 a.m. This session will provide a very good background for our main program on Saturday afternoon.
